Nessim Levy was born on July 24, 1942 in Casablanca, Morocco. He passed away on September 25, 2022 in New York City. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Levy, his 3 adoring daughters, Pamela Goldstein, Lisa Stein and Jennifer Koenig, 3 sons-in-law, 8 beloved grandchildren and great-grandchild, and by his devoted mother and sister. He is pre-deceased by his father and younger sister. Nessim came to America in 1946 with his parents and sister and settled in New York City. He received a BA from The University of Chicago and a JD from The University of Pennsylvania Law School. He proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, where he was awarded a Bronze Star and a Distinguished Service Medal. Nessim successfully ran several textile companies over his lifetime, and continued to work up until his 80th birthday. He was a lifetime member of Park East Synagogue in New York City and a member of Temple Israel Center in White Plains. Nessim’s defining characteristic was his deep and abiding love for his family, both immediate and extended. His passions included Napoleonic history, the New York Yankees, and reading. He will be remembered for his intellectual curiosity, his love of the arts, his elegance, his thoughtfulness, his kindness and his devotion to his family.
