Carol Leone Bates

Carol Leone (Dissinger) Bates, 87, passed away on December 21, 2025, at Morrison Woods Health Campus in Muncie. She was born on March 29, 1938, to Charles and Bernice (Steward) Dissinger, in Auburn, IN. She was preceded in passing by her father and mother.

Carol married David Lee Bates on February 26, 1961. He preceded her in passing on April 27, 2022. Carol and David shared 61 wonderful years together, living 45 of those years in Marion, IN. Carol was a homemaker in a bustling house of seven children. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her family, always creating new memories. Carol loved flowers and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, as well as jigsaw puzzles, as it was a relaxing and enjoyable past time for her. Carol also enjoyed baking, especially cookies and pies at Christmas time.

Carol’s sisters are Marilyn (Richard) Steiner, of Fort Wayne, IN, Arlene (John) Motter, of Fort Wayne, IN, and Dee (Jim) Ramsey, of Fort Wayne, IN. Carol is survived by her children, Brent (Patty) Bates, of Yorktown, VA, Chris (Rae) Bates, of Denver, IN, Darren (Kay) Bates, of Muncie, IN, April (Jay) Streigle, of Camby, IN, Eric (Edgena) Bates, of Snohomish, WA, Angel (David) Fischer, of Ashburn, VA, and Neal (Sara) Bates, of Marion, IN; grandchildren, Shawn Bates, Cassie Streigle, Allie Streigle, and Sara Bates; great-grandchildren, Elia Bates and John Bates; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W Kilgore Ave, Muncie, IN 47304, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Friends may visit with family from 10 am until the time of the service, at the funeral home.
