Charles "Fritz" Frederick Deppe Jr.

Charles Frederick Deppe Jr., known affectionately as “Fritz”, 82, of Muncie, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Parker Health and Rehab. He was born January 17, 1943, in Franklin, Indiana, the son of Dr. Charles Frederick Deppe Sr. and Martha Ann Drybread.

In his younger years, Fritz enjoyed a brief time hunting, but his true passions became clear as he grew older. He loved the freedom of riding motorcycles, the fun and camaraderie of playing pool, and the quiet focus of building model trains, planes, and military kits. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to express his creativity and attention to detail.

What friends and family will remember most is the jokes and stories he loved to share. He had a joke for every moment, always sharing it with a grin that made others smile right along with him.

Fritz proudly served his country in the United States Navy, carrying with him the values of dedication, respect, and service throughout his life.

Fritz is survived by his daughters, Karla Smith, LuAnn Deppe, and Tami Hollingsworth; grandchildren, Cameron Hollingsworth, Harley Hollingsworth, Trinity Smith, Justice Smith, Faith Smith, and Robbie Smith; step-grandchildren, Cole Smith and Paige Collins; great-grandchildren, Camden Hollingsworth, Adaline Elam, Charlie Holbrook, Navy Smith and Knox Smith; siblings, Timothy Deppe, Brian “BJ” Deppe and Beth Ann Hefner; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Dr.Charles Sr. and Martha Deppe

Family and friends may gather from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday, November 24, 2025 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304.A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at Elm Ridge. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304.
