Herschel Wayne Richards

Herschel Wayne Richards, 80, of Muncie, died November 14, 2020, at home with his family. He was born June 29, 1940, in Muncie, Indiana, to Edgar Richards and Rosa (Vice) Richards. He married Barbara Delk on February 2, 1985. A lifelong resident of Muncie, Herschel worked for General Motors for thirty one years until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the UAW. He loved motorcycles and cars, especially red cars. He loved spray paint. Herschel enjoyed gardening, and spending time with his family. His favorite foods were Pizza King and Barbara’s meatloaf. He was a huge Elvis fan, and went several times to Graceland. Herschel is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Barbara; sons, Allen Richards (Lydia), Arthur Richards (Susan); daughters, Eva Petro, Mary Griffin (Brian), Felicia Petropoulos (Pete), and Tabitha Teague (John); sister, Pam Modglin (Don); nineteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren. Herschel is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Rosa Richards; son, Master Gunnery Sergeant Steven Richards; brothers, Charles Richards and James Richards; sister, Rosetta Burke; and granddaughter, Jessica Green. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at Pauline Avenue Church of God, 2800 North Pauline Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47303. Burial will be Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Elm Ridge Memorial Park, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Elm Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
