James Ray Kinder

James “Jimmy” Kinder was born February 20, 1967, in Muncie, Indiana, to Frances and Bobby Kinder. His time on Earth ended Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the age of 58, surrounded by many who loved him deeply.

A dedicated and skilled professional, James was self-employed in the home improvement field, where he took pride in his work and helping others improve their homes. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life—watching NASCAR, playing video games with family and friends, and both playing, coaching, and watching a wide range of sports. Especially when it was watching his grandson, Luke “Baby Bear”, play sports. A lover of the outdoors, James enjoyed dirt biking and riding through trails in the family’s beloved RZR, affectionately named “Gerty”. But above all else, nothing brought him more fulfillment than being with his family.

He leaves behind his wife of 40 years and love of his life, Jill Kinder; two sons, Joshua Kinder (wife, Ashley) of New Paris, OH, and Jared Kinder of Selma; grandson, Luke “Baby Bear” Kinder of Selma; mother, Frances Kinder of Muncie; sister Brenda Pierce (husband, Mickey) of Selma; nephew, Jason Pierce of Muncie; two nieces, Jennifer Pierce and Jacqueline Guess (husband, Michael), both of Selma; great-nieces and great-nephew, Keagan, Keavona, Jozlyne; and many other loved ones.

He is preceded in passing by his loving father, Bobby Kinder.

James will forever be in our hearts.

Family and friends may gather from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., Friday, October 10, 2025, at True Light Baptist Church, 805 North Country Club Road, Muncie, Indiana, 47303. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M. at True Light Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
