

Joseph Theodore Kaelin, 64, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 3, 1960, in Muncie, Indiana. Joseph was the son of the late Joseph O. and Ruby (Cook) Kaelin.
Joe graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1979. He started at Wendy's in 1978 and became a well-respected manager, where he mentored and trained many staff members. Joe also, during this time, worked as a maintenance technician for several Ball State apartment complexes, including Homestead, Oakwood, and Wheeling Manor, for Judy and Frank McCord, whom he loved and respected. Joseph was a member of Tabernacle of Praise church of Muncie, Indiana.
Joe served on the Daleville School Board for 24 years until his death. He was involved with the Little League for many years and felt that it was an honor to be a part of the Daleville Community. His family remembers him as selfless, caring, big-hearted, quick-witted instigator, who was supportive and a great example of what a family man is supposed to be. Joe had a servant's heart and dedicated himself to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone, especially his family and friends, whom he cherished so deeply. Often working multiple jobs, he worked tirelessly in his efforts to provide a comfortable life for his devoted wife of 42 years, Roxanne, and their five beloved children.
Joe enjoyed golfing, reading, bowling, listening to music, playing euchre, and attending his children's activities in his spare time.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Roxanne (Rowles) Kaelin; three sons, Joseph Kaelin, Jarron Kaelin (Meleah Levell), and Jarrod Kaelin; two daughters, Jordan McClurg (Brad), and Jenna Kaelin (Jake Parks), eight cherished grandchildren, Garrett, Kennedi, Eden, Grayson, Aubree, Amelia, Krue and Leon; sister, Ann Kaelin; cousin; “the matchmaker” Joanna Cook; stepmother, Patsy Kaelin; nieces; Autumn Hazelbaker, Somer (Brian) Wadsworth, Rebecca Hammock, Amber (James) Wieferich, and Brittany (Joshua) St. John; nephew, Dustin (Abby) Lach; very precious great nieces and nephews; in-laws; Larry and Sherian Rowles, sisters; Regina Rowles, and Robin Lach.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mac and Mina McGunegill; and brother-in-law, Don Lach.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Daleville Junior/Senior High School Cafeteria, 8400 South Bronco Drive, Daleville, Indiana 47334.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe's name may be made to the Daleville Community School System.
