Sharon Louise Houston

Sharon Louise Houston, 76, of Kokomo, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. She was born Tuesday, May 1, 1945, to Herman O. Berg and Hazel M. (Humes) Berg. She attended schools in Farmland, and moved to Kokomo in 1985.

Sharon was very active in church activities at Christian Heritage. She enjoyed traditional worship music, Johnny Cash, and Alan Jackson. Sharon played BINGO, watched westerns, enjoyed going to the drive-in to watch movies, and going to the dirt track to watch races. A few of life’s enjoyments for Sharon were making a great grilled cheese sandwich, orange and cherry Tootsie Pops, Double Bubble, plain Lays chips, and a ribeye from Outback Steakhouse. She loved feeding wild birds and playing with her grandchildren.

Left behind to cherish her memories are: a son, Larry Houston; two daughters, Jeanette Meranda and Lisa Nelson; a sister, Barbara Watson, from California; grandchildren, Amanda Ward, Alicia Meranda, Megan Glickfield, Shane Houston, Lucas Nelson, and Brianna Houston; great-grandchildren, Kameron, Kassidy, Karley, Kayden, Kaitlyn, Kynsi, Kayleb, Karson, Journey, Lily, Paxton, David, and Audrina; a host of nieces and nephews, and her church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Houston III; her parents, Herman and Hazel Berg; her son, Sam David Houston IV; her brothers, Herman Berg Jr. and James Berg; and sisters, Betty Thrasher, Margaret Watson, Sally Timmons and Wilma Artrip.

Services will be Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Rev. Devan Cole will officiate.

Friends and family may call on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.

Burial will immediately follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
