Steve worked in ABB at Westinghouse and Delco for many years, prior to his retirement. He was a proud member of the Albany American Legion Post 167 for over 50 years. He loved to fish and spend time at the campground. When his children were young, Steve coached little league and his girls’ softball team. Steve was an avid sports fan, and he was the All-Time Wiffle Ball Champion Pitcher. Above all, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Tina Young; siblings, Gary (Lois) Young and Marsha (Ralph) Burress; stepchildren, Angela (Brad) Himes and Chad (Susan) Henry; grandchildren, Erica (Brandon) Townsend, Jadon Henry, Michael (Brooke) Himes, Taylor Henry, Emily Himes, Hannah Bird, and Havyn Henry; and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; wife, Joey Young; son, Scott Alan Young; and grandchildren, Sidni, Adam, and Sammy Young.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, IN 47304, with Doug Greg officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am until the time of the service on Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Albany American Legion Post 167, 128 W State St, Albany, IN 47320.
The family would like to invite friends to join them for a gathering, immediately following the services, at the Albany American Legion Post 167.
