William I Marks

William I. Marks, 77, of Muncie went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born Thursday, October 17, 1946, in Muncie, Indiana to Paul and Pauline (Barron) Marks. William graduated from Southside Senior High School in 1964, and later received his associate degree from IVY Tech in 1989. On December 21, 1967, he married Geraldine Tweedy, from Muncie, Indiana, at Vanderburg AFB in Santa Barbara, California and she survives. William served in the United State Air Force for twenty-one years. Once stationed in Korea, serving as a Material Facilities Specialist with the combat-proved 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing. He later became a Recruiter and earned the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in 1986. He moved back to Muncie, Indiana with his family in 1986 and had careers with both Spar Tech and finally retiring from Red Gold. William leaves behind his wife of fifty-six years, Geraldine (Tweedy) Marks; daughters: Barbara Marks, Muncie, and Deborah (Marks) Hyso (husband: Jack Hyso), Jacksonville, Florida; two grandchildren, April (Wickes) Cundiff (husband: Aaron), and Matthew Jones; six great grandchildren; and several nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Pauline (Barron) Marks; his three brothers: James (Alice) Marks, Larry (Livia) Marks, and Paul V. Marks II; three sisters: Jerri Ann Neilander, Lu Emma Hill, and Della Burke; and one grandson: James Lee Jones-Morrison. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304, where the family requests that you come and celebrate William’s life with them from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Military Rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be made to the family.
