

James was born April 20, 1928, in Burt, Tennessee, to Artist Curry Borren and Beulah Mae (Goff) Borren.
James attended a one room school in Burt and graduated from Burt High School in 1945 where he was a member of the FFA. After high school, James entered the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He returned home and continued his education at Middle Tennessee State School where he received his bachelor's degree; and Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, where he received his master's degree in Hospital Administration. While working at Central State Hospital in Nashville, he met Dorothy "Louise" Ross. They were united in marriage in April 1956, in Corinth, Mississippi. In 1963, they family moved to Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where James was the administrator of the Hissom Memorial Center for the next 29 years until his retirement. James was outgoing and friendly to everyone. He was a 59-year member of the Rotary Club of Sand Springs; and enjoyed fishing and watching football especially the Dallas Cowboys.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Arthur Borren; and sister, Ruth Bailey.
Survivors include the love of his life, Louise of the home; son, James Michael "Mike" Borren of the home; and sister, Shirley Smith of Cleveland.

A gathering of family and friends for James will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 5350 NW Broad Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37129. Following the gathering of family and friends will be a graveside service to celebrate at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 5350 NW Broad Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37129.
