

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilmoth A. Steele and Minnie Mae Hunt Steele and step-daughter Melissa Olmsted. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Eugenia Steele; sons Ray (Nancy) Steele, Steve Steele, and Mark (Lisa) Steele, grandsons Barry (Andrea) Steele, Kyle Steele, granddaughters Traci (Michael) Jenkins of Bowling Green, KY , Kendall (Daniel) Meeks, seven great grandchildren and sisters; Neva Hunley and Mary Gifford Cole.
GY SGT Raymond Steele served for twenty four years with the United States Marine Corps before retiring in 1973. During his time in the Marines he had the privilege of serving on several special duty assignments. In 1960, he assisted in providing additional security coverage for President Eisenhower at the Summit in Paris, France. In December, 1962 he was assigned to work with the U.S. Secret Service and accompanied President Kennedy and Prime Minister MacMillan during the Nassau Agreement meetings.
He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN.

Visitation with family will be Tuesday, September 8th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and one hour prior to service. Service will be at Roselawn Funeral Home at 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 9th with Senior Pastor Ken Polk officiating. Interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
