I worked under 15 principals during my 32 years as a band director. My years, largely due to his support, at Mitchell-Neilson were in many ways the best. In my first encounter with the new principal after Mr. Crowder retired I let him know that MNE was "band heaven". I will always think of him with the fondest of memories.

I worked with Bob with many student teachers in my years with MTSU's Education Dept. My wife taught for him 2 years and we both admired him and his easy going manner with all.  I'd see him in the hall and he'd say,"go eat some lunch in the cafeteria."  And I'd do just that.  He was an excellent principal and person.

I was a student at MNE in the 70's and have pleasant memories of Mr. Crowder as do many of my classmates. Reading his obituary I, as adult, am even more impressed with all his accomplishments and with his compassion and progressive thoughts and actions. What a wonderful person he must have been in his home/family life as well. I'm sure he will be deeply missed. Prayers for strength during this tough time. Amy Craddock Strength

Dear Crowder Family ~

I am praying for you all & just wanted to say that my parents & I thought he was wonderful!!! 

May God hold you especially close during this difficult season.

Forty six years ago, I was a third grader in Mrs. Moyer's class. I was having a very difficult time adjusting, primarily because of family matters. Mrs. Moyers mentioned my emotional state to Mr.Crowder, and for several weeks he would pull me out of class each day and spend time with me, just to make sure that I was going to be ok. He knew that I was a good student, and he wanted to make sure that I didn't get off track, and was concerned with what I was going through at that time. He was one of a kind, and he truly helped me.  I will never forget Mr.Crowder, and I thank God for his life.

Hearing of the passing of Mr.Crowder and seeing some of the things some of my former classmates have said about him after all those years ago that should tell you the kind of impression he left in n our lives he had respect for each one of us and our best interest at heart. It made it easy for you to come to him about anything but back then so did the teachers. Mr.Crowder will be missed by so many people whose lives he touch, for his family may God Bless you all

Linda & I and our three daughters, Pam, Nicole & Alice who all went to MNE, all have a great respect and admiration for Mr. Crowder.  He was a great leader for them and us as parents.  He was truly a great man and I am sure he will be greatly missed by his family.

So sorry, Mr. Crowder was my Principal. He was a good man.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  Mr. Crowder was certainly an advocate for children and will forever be appreciated by those who knew him.
