William Myrl Ellis Sr.

William Myrl Ellis, age 100, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Mr. Ellis was the son of the late Floyd Ellis and Alta Winifred Pangburn Ellis. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Frances Ellis and daughter, Charlotte (Ellis) Benson. Myrl is survived by his daughter, Dianne (Ellis) Sudymont; son, William M. Ellis, Jr.; four grandchildren, Robert Benson, Rhonda Gore, Stephanie Baker, and Lisa Miller; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ellis was born in Felicity, Ohio on September 9, 1922. It was here that he met and fell in love with his wife, Frances Elizabeth Brock. He proudly served his country in the US Army Air Force during World War II. When his service was completed, he spent 38 years working as an airplane mechanic with Eastern Airlines.

Myrl was an active member of the Nazarene Church all his life. He will always be remembered for his smile and his willingness to help whenever he was needed. He was loved by everyone he met.

A Celebration of Life service will be planned in Ocala, Florida for the near future and details will be provided once they are made.
