William Thomas “Bill” Newcomb, age 80, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on Sunday afternoon, August 6, 2017. Bill was the son of Robert Rickman and Opal Vaughn Newcomb. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Bryson Newcomb; daughters, Karen (Michael) Grant of Murfreesboro, Rhonda Newcomb of Murfreesboro and Deborah Cummings of the Wheel Community; sons, Timmy Newcomb of Smyrna and Shane Newcomb of Bell Buckle; sisters, Eva Barron, Estelle Henderson, Catherine Stone, Jean Bosserman and Faye Newcomb; grandchildren, William White, Jr, Wayman Cummings, Will Cummings, James Gearhart, Jr, Joseph White, Sarah Gearhart, Olivia Gearhart, Nathan White, Shane Jernigan, Heidi White, Darian Newcomb and Allison Newcomb; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Newcomb was preceded in death by his daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Willie White and by sisters, Lorene Ledbetter, Alma Rummage, and Alta Chumbley and brother, Aaron Newcomb. Services to celebrate Mr. Newcomb will be at 10:30am Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond F. Kasch officiating. Placement with military honors will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Culleoka, TN. Family will serve as active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Joe Swanson, John G. Mitchell, Jr, Kirk Chumbley, Dan Kuhn, Jimmy Smiley and Dave Macon, III. Mr. Newcomb was the owner of Bill Newcomb’s Custom Upholstery for over 59 years. He was a tank driver in the Tennessee Army National Guard in the 1950’s for 5 years. He loved to restore cars, especially ’65 T-Birds and was a huge George Jones fan.
