

Blanch Lamerle Vardeman--everyone knew her as Lamerle—was born May 1, 1932, in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Mittie Isabell (Mason) and William Louis Stewart. She passed from this life on September 28, 2025, having attained the age of 93 years.
In her younger years, Lamerle lived and went to school in Chireno. She was united in marriage with Barney Vardeman, and they enjoyed 53 years together prior to his death. Mrs. Vardeman met Barney in Nacogdoches while she worked for the Stripling Drug Store and Barney had a watch repair shop in downtown Nacogdoches. Mrs. Vardeman was an employee of Bealls Department Store for over 30 years as well as a homemaker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. After retiring, she and Barney love traveling and in later years she enjoyed dominoes and bingo.
Lamerle was a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Nacogdoches County and lived in Nacogdoches County her entire life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son-in-law, James Nash, four sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Vardeman is survived by her children, one daughter, Brenda Vardeman Nash and one son, Don D. Vardeman and his wife, Gayla, all of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Carmen Prentice, Corey Nash, and Douglas Vardeman; and six great grandchildren.
The Family would like to say a special Thank You to Tammy with Heart-to-Heart and all of the caregivers at Willowbrook Nursing Home for the excellent care they gave to our mother.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 10:00 A.M. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Sunset Memorial Park.
