

Lt. Colonial Charles Terry Cheek, age 87, of Nacogdoches, Texas died with his family surrounding him on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
He was born in the community of Balkan, in Bell County, Kentucky on Sept 19, 1937. Chuck was the only son of Robert Bradley and Minnie Letha (Siler) Cheek. He was born in a coal mining camp and was the second of four children. He joined the United States Air Force in February of 1956. He served and continued his education ending with a master’s degree from Georgetown University in Foreign Service with focus on Russian language. He retired as a Lt. Colonial after thirty-two years of service.
He was stationed in Texas, New York, Maryland and Washington, DC. His overseas tours included assignments in Japan, Germany, Korea, England & Hawaii. His final assignment was in the Pentagon which ended in April 1988. He retired at the age of 51.
He loved tinkering in his shop and enjoyed many years with his church families at First United Methodist, Calvary Baptist Church and Grace Bible.
Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, father and sisters, Brenda and Wanda and is survived by his sister Letha, wife, Brenda Cheek, his two daughters Terri Davis and Stephanie Anderson, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the loving, compassionate doctors, nurses, respiratory therapist and staff at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. Everyone went above and beyond for the family and Chuck during his short stay in the ICU and 2nd floor. Their prayers and tears were heartfelt and will be remembered forever.
