Mr. Beck was born September 27, 1933, in Cushing, Texas, as a son of Charlie Beck and Flora (Denney) Beck. At the age of 4, his family moved to Nacogdoches where they operated Beck’s Grocery Store for well over 50 years. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. True to his family roots he believed in hard work, having held numerous occupations (many at the same time) during his lifetime.
Don always had an opinion, quote, Bible verse, words of wisdom, and advice for any situation and for anyone, whether or not they wanted to hear it. He always said to “tell it like it is.”
Don was a lifelong resident of Nacogdoches. He was a simple man who took care of things. His generous giving heart has touched and changed the lives of many.
Don is survived by Robbie, his wife of 55 years, along with a host of family and friends who will dearly miss him, including his daughters, Teresa Ann Beck Simms and husband Coy of Houston, Texas, Lisa Lynn Beck Hutcheson and husband Jeff of Mesquite, Texas, and Toni Beck Sowell and husband Marty of Nacogdoches, Texas; grandchildren, Nicole Simms, Natalie Sowell, Josie Sowell, and Lance Hutcheson; sister, Betty Woodfill and husband Jerry; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Beck.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Beck.
