Dr. Hill was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Bivins, Texas, to the late Hardy Sikes Hill and Gladys Williams Hill. He was a graduate of East Texas State University. As a longtime coach and educator, Dr. Hill was superintendent of schools in Douglasville before joining the faculty of Stephen F. Austin State University in 1966. He served SFA a number of years before retiring.
His survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda Hill; daughter, Pamela Gaye Baldree; son, Harold Wayne Hill; granddaughter, Megan Baldree; grandson, Robert Aaron Baldree and Hunter Dean Hill; and sisters, Betty Russell, Joyce Foster, and Ruth Ann Hill.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Holleman Cemetery near Mount Enterprise, Texas, with Dr. Allen Reed officiating.
