Lillian "Jo" Josephine (McBroom) Watkins

Lillian “Jo” Josephine (McBroom) Watkins of Douglass passed away November 18, 2020, in Nacogdoches at the age of 87. She was born August 16, 1933, in Rusk to parents Curby J. McBroom and Ida J. (Pate) McBroom.

A graduate of nursing school, Jo was a lifelong RN Supervisor at Northwest Memorial Hospital before retiring. She would later volunteer her time at hospitals. She was an avid Texas sports fan, except the Dallas Cowboys! She was especially a fan of the Houston Astros and enjoyed learning Texas History.

Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her parents, along with many other family members.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, Charles Ray Watkins; brother, Thomas McBroom; children, Michael Watkins and wife Kathryn, Sam Watkins and wife Beth, and Teresa Byars and husband Fred; and grandchildren, Philip Watkins and Rebekah Watkins.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2020, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Douglass Cemetery.
