Margaret C. Peterson, age 87, of Nacogdoches, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 In Lufkin, Texas. Margaret was born January 25, 1934 in Montgomery, Texas to parents Harry Emmett Carpenter and Minnie Williams Carpenter.
She was a lifelong resident of Nacogdoches. Her first job was at McCory’s Department store. She then later worked for Mize as a seamstress for ten years. After her time at Mize ended Margaret worked for eighteen years at Foretravel as a seamstress. Working on the draperies and accessories for the motorcoaches. She married her soulmate James Peterson in 1952, and they were happily married 56 years until his passing.
Margaret was a member of the Nacogdoches Quilters Guild, Lifetime member of DAV, and was very active in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Zella Graves.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Lanita Smith and husband Charlie, Barbara Janice Belt and husband Darrell, Pamela Simms and husband Bill, and Donna Shelton and husband Nick; grandchildren, Callie Simms Terry and husband Zac, Blake Simms and wife Llanary, Ben Simms and wife Grace, Brandon Belt and wife Haylee, Cameron Belt and wife Megan, Heather Gardner and husband Nick, Monica Smith and husband Zach, and Andrew Peterson; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Kulikowski, Rustin Kulikowski, Hannah Gardner, Noah Gardner, Greyson Belt, Augie Belt, Steele Terry, Locke Terry, Knox Terry and Hunter Peterson; and siblings Lyle Carpenter, Joyce Frederick, and Elaine Palmer.
A visitation for Margaret will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North St, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 10:30 AM at Bethel Cemetery, Appleby, TX.
