

Margie graduated from Bridge City High School. Following graduation, she pursued a career as a speech therapist, working at Stephen F. Austin State University and later at the state school in Lufkin, Texas. She had a deep love for gardening and reading, and she enjoyed thrifting and antiquing long before it became popular. Margie also found joy in recycling and repurposing items.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Dewey Pitts and Joy Madge Mayfield Pitts; her brothers, Thomas Pitts and David Pitts; her sister-in-law, Donna Broussard Pitts; and her niece, Kristen Pitts Fuss.
Margie is survived by her brother, Harold Pitts of Nacogdoches, Texas; her sisters, Kathy Pitts Smith of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Penny Pitts Bays and husband Jerry of Buna, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and her faithful companion, Rascal.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Memorial Hermann Hospital and The Woodlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion. They also express heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cared for and prayed for Margie during her time of need, and to her friends Glenda Kelley, Vicki Hailey, and Leona Cordova.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Criglow, Jason Pitts, Jeremy Pitts, Cameron Pitts, Nick Kelley and Jason Rowlett.
Visitation will be held at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the funeral home at 3:00.
Ms. Pitts will be interred at Sunset Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
