

Mrs. Mary Lou King passed away Saturday, 31 December 2016, at Nacogdoches Medical Center at the age of 84. Her family will remember how Mrs. King spent much of her life caring for them and members of her community.
She was born 4 September 1932 and was a longtime resident of Nacogdoches, Texas, where she maintained many lasting friendships. Mrs. King retired in 1994 from Ralph Steen Library after working 17 years at Stephen F. Austin State University. In her early years she had also worked for Mize. Mrs. King remembered her coworkers at Mize and SFA fondly.
Important to Mrs. King was her service to her Lord and her family. She had been a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren will remember her as their Mamaw who showed them love with her attention to their accomplishments and everyday needs. She held great devotion to her church, First Church of the Nazarene, and served in many capacities, including teaching Sunday School for over 30 years. Mrs. King’s care was also evident in her love for growing flowers, and she took great pride in tending to them.
Her survivors include her husband, Loyd Jeff King Sr.; son, Loyd Jeff King Jr. and wife Gayla J. King; son, Larry J. King; five grandchildren, Amy King, Emily Newlin and husband Jon Newlin, Austin King, Matthew King, and Kayla King; a sister, Willen Tindall; and a brother and sister-in-law, Murval Don and Charlotte Holt.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Tardy Holt; mother and step-father, Versa and Robert Greer; and a sister, Peggy Stone.
Services are set for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, 4 January 2017, at the Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Pastor Joseph Dagostino III officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, located on Hwy. 21 East.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, 3 January 2017.
