

Mrs. Marye Frances Hancock Crawford, age 89, passed away at her home in Bedford, Texas on January 20, 2015. She was born in Nacogdoches County, Texas on May 8, 1925, to parents Dan and Blanche Hancock.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 23 at 1:30 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Minister Randy Harshbarger officiating. Pallbearers will include John Barrington, Jack Barrington, Joe Barrington, Jim Blacksher, Varron McLemore and Billy Fultz.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
Marye is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles F. Crawford; and four sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana Crawford Kirkland; sons, Floyd Crawford and wife Nancy Daley, Brian Crawford and wife Laura; brother, Dan Smith Hancock, Jr.; nephews, John Barrington, Jack Barrington, Joe Barrington, Jim Blacksher; nieces, Janice Mabry, Lynda Willard; and many who considered her as mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Marye was valedictorian of her class at Garrison High school in 1942. After graduation, she completed Business School in Texarkana, TX. After returning to Nacogdoches, she worked in many different bookkeeping capacities and retired from Texas Farm Products. Marye married the love of her life, Charles F. Crawford in 1950. She was a long-time member of Mound and Starr church of Christ and Stallings Drive church of Christ in Nacogdoches, and in her later years, a member of the Northwest church of Christ in Arlington, Texas. Marye was a worker, honest and reliable. A letter of recommendation included the comment that she was of “fine old pioneer stock!” She was a servant minded woman. Marye cared for and tended to her sisters and sister-in-law in their later years of illness. To Marye, everyone was considered her family. She made people feel at home and important. She always had a knack for coming up with a meal to feed guests no matter how many and with the shortest notice. Marye was an elegant woman who loved pretty things. Her hobbies included needlework, quilting, canning and baking. Her favorites included cakes, pies and cookies, but her pound cake was exceptional and renowned. Marye was an avid reader and a Texas Ranger fan never missing a televised broadcast. Her family will miss her.
