Ron was born in Sardis, Ohio on May 24, 1939, and grew up in Bellaire, Ohio. He married Daneta (Danny) Sue Chaplin on December 10, 1960; they were married for almost 58 years. Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Military and served in the Navy aboard the USS Bennington for four years and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He retired as a purchasing manager from Stauffer Chemical Company/Rhone Poulenc after 37 years of dedicated service.
Ron had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and served as a deacon and treasurer at his church, Alana Lane Baptist Church. Ron loved people and everyone loved him. He had a big heart and cared for all those around him with his kindness and generosity. He was known for his gentle spirit and sense of humor.
Ron and Danny met at a roller skating rink in California where Danny was a competitive skater. They both participated in various bowling leagues, which they often won. Their competitive spirits continued with nightly games of bingo for many years where they made lifelong friends.
Ron is survived by his sons, Steven Chaplin and wife Sheri, Thomas Chaplin and wife Dana; his daughter, Kellee Sue Harris and husband Glenn; and grandchildren, Jacob, Brian, Brooke, Andrew, and Gina. Ron greatly enjoyed spending time with Kellee’s dogs, which he called his grand-dogs. He is preceded in death by his wife, Daneta Sue Chaplin, and his parents, Harry Junior and Clarabelle Chaplin.
Ron’s family would like to thank the staffs of Magnolia Court and Westward Trails for their love and care for him.
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength. -Isaiah 26:3-4
