Ronald Lee P'Pool Jr. of San Antonio passed away January 24, 2019, at his home at the age of 50. He was born January 4, 1969, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to parents Ronald Lee P'Pool, Sr. and Rosemary (Robinson) P'Pool.
Lee graduated from Katy Taylor High School in 1987 where he was a percussionist in the band. He also participated in the youth choir/group at Houston’s First Baptist Church. He then attended The University of Texas at San Antonio for three years as a vocal major. He worked at Wells Fargo for the past 20 years and especially enjoyed his most recent position as Business Initiative Consultant.
His passion for singing and music was tremendous, as his family would say that music was his life. For 20 years, he was proud to be a member of SAVAE (San Antonio Vocal Arts Ensemble). Together they travelled the nation and abroad, producing many albums, were featured in national publications and broadcast, and their work has also been used in documentaries and motion pictures. They also regularly perform with the San Antonio Symphony.
Lee’s other passion in life was his family. He loved to make people laugh. He had a special fondness in his heart for his nephew and great-nephews, who called him “Ogie.” He also had many “adopted” nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Mr. P’Pool was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Hilda Hyams; his paternal grandparents, Janie and Raleigh P’Pool; uncles, Don Robinson, Gene P’Pool, and Ray P’Pool; and cousin, Danny P’Pool.
He is survived by his parents; sister, Cory De La Torre and husband Ron; nephew, Trey De La Torre and wife Reagan; and great-nephews, J.T., Landon, and Wyatt De La Torre.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Houston's First Baptist Church in the Worship Center, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made in Lee’s name to The American Heart Association.
