

Ruby McLain Skeeters of Appleby, Texas passed away on December 14, 2023 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Ruby was 94 and lived all her life in Appleby. She was born in Appleby, TX on July 14, 1929 to Jim and Nannie McLain. She and Jimmie (JN) Skeeters were married October 22, 1949. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed attending church and assisting with many church related activities.
She is survived by her children Tena Hall Boyd and husband Allen, Mike Skeeters and wife Teresa, Nancy Skeeters, and Bob Skeeters and wife Sherri. Her grandchildren are Darrell Hall, Tredessa Thomas and husband Jack, Bryan Hall, Josh Skeeters and wife Megan, Adam Skeeters, Maegan Skeeters, Logan Skeeters, Jake Skeeters and wife Emily, McKenna Skeeters, and Jimmie Skeeters. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her sister Dorothy Skeeters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her Son Lester Skeeters, and brothers and sisters Charlie McLain, Rufus McLain, Iva Clifton, Earline Jacobs, James McLain and Homer Lee McLain.
Ruby was raised in a farming family and continued Dairy farming after marriage. She and JN milked cows their entire married life and until a week after JN passed away. They liked to travel when they could get a chance. She and JN had five kids born in the 50’s. If the church doors were open, they were there with their bunch in tow. Later in life she sang with the Joyful Sound Choir from Calvary and volunteered at Nacogdoches Hope Food Pantry. She was currently residing at Stallings Court Nursing and Rehab facility.
Visitation will be at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home in Nacogdoches on Thursday December 21, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on December 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Paul Sevar officiating. Interment will be following at Bethel Cemetery in Appleby.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Darrell Hall, Bryan Hall, Josh Skeeters, Adam Skeeters, Logan Skeeters and Jake Skeeters.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund at 3732 NE Stallings Dr. Nacogdoches, TX 75965 or Bethel Cemetery at 270 CR 2082 Nacogdoches TX, 75965.
