

Miss Bates was born on September 27, 1918 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, to William H. Bates and Anna Parr.
Ruth loved life, family and she loved to travel when she was younger with her sisters. She moved to Tucson, Arizona, about 1982 and lived there until 2001 and moved to Nacogdoches, Texas. Ruth worked for N.C.R. in Dayton for 30 years.
Ruth Bates had three brothers and two sisters, Ernest Bates, Harvey Bates, Paul Bates, Maggie Kenter, Blanche (Bates) Rush, and Wilma (Bates) Geeting and she has joined them in Heaven.
Although she had no children of her own but she raised three of her sister's, Vickie (Rush) Rodrigues and spouse Robert, Vickie’s daughter Apryl Newman and her kids Justin, Katie and Aaron, all of Nacogdoches, Texas, Anna (Rush) Pollock and spouse Dennis and their children Frajhelle Stone and her husband Paul of Tucson, Arizona, Jenny, Mike and CJ Pollock of Roswell, New Mexico, William and spouse Deb (Minniear) Rush and their son Travis Rush, Travis’s children, Jordanna, Colt, and Nicole, all of Logansport, Idiana; Georgetta Kentner and family, Little Ruth Kentner, Debra (Bates) Jurgens and her children Stacy, Jamie, Amber; Beverly (Geeting) Decker and spouse David and their children Randy, Ashley, Danille, Barry; and Harold Geeting and his sons Daniel and Harold Jr..
Miss Bates will be sadly missed by all of her family until we meet again.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Cason Monk-Metcalf, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at a later date in Ohio. Interment will be at the Aley Cemetery in Bevercreek, Ohio.
