Susie Lavenia Stevenson of Timpson, Texas passed away on March 15, 2022, in Nacogdoches, Texas, at the age of 86. She was born January 20, 1936 in Garrison, Texas to parents Aurora E. and Luther R Kirk.
Lavenia met her future husband Charlie A. Stevenson when they were teenagers both living in Houston, Texas. They married at 17 years old.
Among her many interests, Lavenia enjoyed painting, reading, sewing and spending time with her family. She liked to paint scenes from nature, especially from her travels with Charlie. She was an incredible homemaker, gardner, she enjoyed cooking meals for her family and making clothes for her children and grandchildren. Lavenia was an avid reader. The older she got the more she indulged in her love for novels, especially historical romances.
Lavenia showed her devotion to family by her everyday actions. Her husband Charlie was the love of her life; wherever he was, she wanted to be.
Lavenia is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charlie. She is survived by daughter, Rhonda “Jeannie” Warr and husband Ronnie; sons, Michael Stevenson, Robert Stevenson and wife Helen; daughter, Leslie Stevenson; grandchildren, Alicia and Jason Weaver, Michael Stevenson, Jr., Karen Waters, Miranda and Daniel Leon, Christian Stevenson, Aaron and Rebecca Stevenson, Jamie Wallace, and Benjamin Wallace and 20 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers: Aaron Stevenson, Christian Stevenson and Robert Stevenson.
A visitation for Lavenia will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North St, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
Lavenia will be laid to rest in Cold Springs Cemetery, Garrison, TX.
