

PeeWee was born on March 24, 1945, in Louisiana to Slay Thomas Hammond and Flora Hester Hammond. He proudly served his country in the United States, Army and fought in the Vietnam War.
PeeWee was married to the love of his life, Cathy Hammond, for 53 years. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend.
In his younger years, PeeWee worked as a mechanic, liquor store manager, and restaurant owner. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, watching football, and relaxing with a cold beer. Known for his great sense of humor, PeeWee was always up for a good story, a cigar, and a laugh. If you spent any time around him, you were sure to walk away with a funny story or joke to remember him by. His heart was big, and his sarcastic wit was truly enduring. PeeWee loved his family and friends deeply, and his presence will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Slay Thomas Hammond; his mother, Flora Hester Hammond; his sisters, Rose Marie Murphy and Wanda McBride; his brothers, William Slay Hammond, James McBride, and Roger McBride; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Carlson and father-in-law and friend, Ed Carlson.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Hammond; his daughter, Donna Hammond; his cherished furbabies, Peanut, Annie, and Maggie; his sisters, Helen Nowickie, Shirley Baggerly, and Dianne Reid; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
PeeWee’s legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable stories will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
