Bill was born and raised in Mendota, IL. He served in the US Army and spent two years in Germany as a medic. He returned and achieved a Master’s degree in Special Education. Although he spent some years teaching visually impaired students, the majority of his career was spent as a professor in the field of special education. He worked at SFASU from 1975-2008 and was promoted to department chairman prior to his retirement.
Bill loved his church and served on a number of committees at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches, TX. He enjoyed being with family and friends and was devoted to his granddaughters. He also dabbled in woodworking and golf when he had free time.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Bryan; his daughter, Julie Bryan; his son and spouse, Danny and Tracy Bryan; granddaughters Avery and Emery Bryan; and his brothers and spouses, Gerry and Andy Bryan and Jim and Mary Ann Bryan. He was predeceased by his first wife, Carole Bryan, and his parents, Harry and Millie Bryan.
A visitation from 5-6 PM and rosary at 6 PM will be held on, Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors. The funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 25, at 10:00 AM, at Sacred Heart Church, with a reception following. A private burial is planned.
