Jerry Myers, 77, of Naples, FL passed away in his sleep on Thursday, March 1st. Jerry was born to parents Lloyd and Marjorie (Herfurth) Myers in Flint, Michigan and was a proud alum of Dye High School, Michigan State University, and the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He started his career as an accountant with Arthur Andersen. Jerry held senior executive positions with American Hospital Supply Corporation and TRW, and served five years as President and CEO of Steelcase, Inc. Following his corporate career, Jerry was a partner in venture capital firm CroBern Management Partnership, LLP where he was a principal investor and Chairman of Medcor, Inc., an outsourced health services company based in Illinois.
Following his graduation from Kellogg, Jerry was happily married for 26 years to Sharon Smith of Chicago, with whom he had two sons, Mike and Todd, until Sharon’s passing in 1990. Sharon and Jerry lived in Northbrook, IL and later Cleveland, OH. Jerry later married Crystal Haywood, his devoted wife of 26 years, with whom he lived in Grand Rapids, MI and Naples, FL.
Jerry is survived by loving wife Crystal, brother Bob (Ginny), sons Mike (Suzanne), Todd (Freya), step children Troy Lyle (Sonya), Nicki Lyle, and grandchildren Mark, Kari, Brittney, Whitney, Daniel, Isaac, Daysha, Jaden, and Ninah.
Private services will be held on Saturday March 10th at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave. N. Naples. A public reception will be held at Grey Oaks Country Club at 1:00pm.
