George Robert Ruby

George Robert Ruby, 89 of Napoleon Ohio passed away Saturday March 30, 2013 at the Henry County Hospital. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on July 4.1923 to Isaac Earl (Bertha Runyon) Ruby, both whom preceded him in death.

George retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service and had also worked at the State Library of Ohio in Northwest Ohio across numerous counties. He was a life long member of the VFW #8210 and American Legion #300 of Napoleon, member of the Distinguished Flying Cross Society, and a member of Friends of The National Museum of The United States Air Force.

He married Doris Ann Davies on November 10, 1951 in Portsmouth, Ohio and she survives along with their children: Mark (Diane) Ruby, Carol (David) James, Phillip (Lucinda) Ruby, Rex (Sue) Ruby. Grandchildren: Allison (Aaron) Snitzer, Daniel Ruby, Michael (Kirsten) Ruby, Paul James, Joseph James, Mary James, Mathias Ruby, Katlyn Ruby, Two Great-Grandchildren: August and Georgia Ruby, and one step grandchild Ron (Cassie) Boyd II, two step great-grand-children Logan Dickerson and Brendan Boyd. George was preceded in death by 10 siblings.

Visitation will be held at The Walker Mortuary on Tuesday April 2, 2013 from 2pm-8pm with funeral services being held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, with Pastor Laura Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens in Defiance Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to Henry County Retired Teachers Foundation for book grants, and donor’s choice.
