

Born November 19, 1920 in Napoleon, Ohio, the son of Ora E. and Etta Mae ( Bales) Bowers. On April 21, 1961 he married Margaret E. Weisz, who survives of Napoleon.
James was a life long farmer working the ground that had been in the family since 1843. He received the Henry County Agricultural Hall Of Fame Award in 2010. He was a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau and the Cattleman Association. He was a member of the Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was a former Sunday school superintendent.
Surviving are two sons David (Betsy) Bowers, of Stanton, Nebraska and John (Cara) Bowers, of Napoleon, Ohio; two daughters Carol (Kirk) Chambers, Delta, Ohio, and Ellen (Todd) Dean, Oak Ridge, N.C. and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Earl and Robert Bowers and one sister Thelma Hill.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, Liberty Center at 11 a.m., Rev. Barry Baughman, officiating. Interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery, Napoleon, Ohio.
Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, Ohio on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
