

David G. Ballantine, 74, passed away on Wednesday, February 7th, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband to Florence J. Ballantine and shared 55 years of marriage together.
Born in Miami, he was the son of David G. and Margarite A. Ballantine. He attended Stetson University and the University of Miami School of Music. After his father’s passing, David joined his mother in the family business and married his high school sweetheart, Florence. Both continued the business and successfully owned the local grocery store, known as Minors Market, where they employed many of the Homestead locals for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, watching U of M football, basketball and baseball as well as, the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Marlins. Throughout retirement, he managed the family’s Hagerty Groves.
He is survived by his wife, Florence, his three children, David III, Diana and Michael (Leticia Sanchez) and one grandchild Nicolas Gumbs.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 14th from noon to 2pm at Palms Woodlawn (27100 Old Dixie Highway, Naranja, FL 33032). There will be a gathering afterwards at Black Point Ocean Grill, all are welcome.
