David Livingston Blalock

David Livingston Blalock , 86, of Homestead, FL, passed away on March 16th , 2023 after a long life filled with doing the things he loved with the people who brought him joy. David was born in Greensboro North Carolina to Fanny and Delmar Blalock November 19th, 1936. He was one of six children and enlisted in the Marine Corps at 16 years old. David is a proud decorated Veteran of the USMC and the Army, with 24 years of service and multiple honors. He retired from the military and became a facility manager at the University of Miami, where he spent another 20 years. First and foremost, he was a devoted husband to his wife America, sharing 63 years of wedded bliss. His dedication to his country was matched only by his dedication to fatherhood. He raised three sons, Stephen, Dennis and Michael to be both strong and loving like him. Once his sons were grown, he played a pivotal part in raising his ten grandchildren. David fiercely loved his family and would do anything for them. David’s other great loves were Cuban coffee, sweets, and his dog Harvey. He enjoyed spending time with America, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He spent his retirement traveling the world with his wife, family, and friends. He loved to call his grandchildren and friends just to check in, just one of the many ways he showed his affection. In his later years, he faced many health struggles and overcoming them, citing his faith and his wife as his rock. David is survived by his soulmate, America; His three sons, Stephen, Dennis and Michael. His legacy lives on through his ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and his pup Harvey. He is at peace resting in the hands of the Lord, watching over his family. Services will be held on Monday March 20th at Caballero Rivero Palms Woodlawn in Naranja.
