She was born to Everett and Muriel Lawrence in their family home in New Brunswick, Canada on June 5, 1940.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Jean and brother, Harold.
Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, John R. Hachey; Children: Nancy Krause (John) and Michael Hachey; Siblings: George Lawrence, Joyce Lawrence, and Donna Williams, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Shortly after marrying the love of her life, John, who had joined the United States Air Force, they set off on an adventure of a lifetime making home at various bases throughout the US and England where they were stationed. They had an amazing journey and took every opportunity to travel, learn new experiences, cultures, and food. Mary met some of her most cherished friends through the military. She loved keeping in touch with everyone through her cards and letters. Her Christmas cards were always something special to look forward to each year.
Mary and John made their retirement home in Homestead, Florida. She worked 28 years for American Greeting cards and loved her job as it tied in well with her passion of scrapbooking, memory albums, and party planning! Her other passion was photography. She bought her first camera in 1955 and was off and running…She documented every part of her life through pictures as well as every friend and family member who would let her take a snapshot or two!
Mary loved her holidays, especially Christmas. How she got all the adults to dress up in hilarious handmade holiday costumes is still a mystery…she loved to make everyone laugh.
Mary adored children. Her love for her nieces, nephews and now grand nieces and nephews not to mention all the neighborhood children throughout the years was unwavering. She supported, loved and spoiled them all…
Mary lived her life through her faith, stayed true to her family values, had the most unique ability to always see every aspect of her life in a positive way. Her genuine kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.
In Mary’s words from her personal memoirs:
“I am and have been so fortunate to have had this wonderful life…leaving the Kee Road at the age of 21…going off to see the world (so to speak)…it has been a wonderful journey…”
“I love you all and you mean the world to me…Mary (with xoxo for all).”
