Mignon "Nannie-Pie" Christine Wollard, 83, of Islamorada passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015. She was born February 27, 1932 in Perth, Western Australia to the late George Laurence and Frances Genevieve "Jane" Callaway Haines.
In 1946, she and her mother left Australia for the United States. They eventually settled in Miami, Florida, where Mignon met her future husband, Donald Lee Wollard. They were married March 16, 1951 at Miami Temple SDA Church and moved into a bayside cottage on Lower Matecumbe Key in the FL Keys. Their home was only the third to have been built on the island at the time. Mignon was his partner in all things, but first and foremost she was a mother to their growing family. She managed the business office and store of Don's Marine Center and Sea Lark Boats in Islamorada and later was a top distributor for AIM, a health supplement company.
A big part of Mignon's life was her strong faith, and her church. She and Don purchased property on Plantation Key and built the Islamorada SDA Church along with members of their small group. She was the ultimate church greeter and welcomed newcomers with a big, heartfelt hug. She deeply loved her family, her church, the FL Keys, and sunsets. She and Don rarely missed a sunset, whether it was from their boat, their porch, or Channel 2 Bridge. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2001.
Mignon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and granddaughter, Savannah.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Bill) Harvey of Collegedale, TN; son, Donald (Candie) Wollard, Jr. of DeLand, FL; son, David (Tonya) Wollard of Stuart, FL; daughter, Nina (Jim) Roberts of Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Stephen, Donald lll, Christopher, Laura, Ryan, Brandon, Daniel, Michael, Desiree, Thadeus, Matthew, Ciara, and Katelyn; nine great-grandchildren (two more on the way) and four step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 10 am in the chapel at Caballero Rivero Palms Woodlawn Cemetery in Naranja, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11 am with Jim Roberts officiating. Interment will follow.
