

Benjamin. G. Gardiner 74, of Nashua, died May 20, 2011 at the Southern NH Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Waltham, MA on August 28, 1936, the son of Augustus and Margaret (O’Donnell) Gardiner. He was raised in Waltham and was educated in the Waltham School System. He received his BA degree and a Masters degree in accounting from Bentley College and also earned a second Masters degree from New Hampshire College (Southern NH University).
He was employed as a Professor of Accounting at Franklin Pierce University for 24 years. He was also self employed at Benjamin G. Gardiner CPA in Nashua and was a member of the New Hampshire CPA Society.
He was a veteran and served as a sergeant in the US Army from 1955 to 1958 and re-enlisted and served again from 1965 to 1968.
Ben was very active and enjoyed being outdoors, especially playing a round of golf, a good game of tennis and downhill skiing. He was also an excellent woodworker.
Members of his family include his wife of 42 years Honghai (Hai) Gardiner of Nashua, his brother John Gardiner of Waltham MA, his two sisters Mary Stevens of Westport CT, Ruth Irvin of Twin City WI and his sister-in law Mary Gardiner of Waltham MA as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by his brothers William Gardiner and Robert Gardiner and his sisters Helen Phillips and Emily Gardiner.
Calling hours were held on Saturday May 28, 2011 from 10AM to Noon at the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home 26 Kinsley St. Nashua, NH. A Buddhist Funeral Ceremony was held from 9 to 10AM and a Funeral Service was celebrated at noon in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors followed in Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Ben’s name be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
