Catherine Mignault, 88, recently of Haverhill, Massachusetts, beloved wife of Harve (Joe) Mignault, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2021. She was born on January 9, 1933 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Lucy and Martin Thornton.
Catherine lived in Massachusetts, and then moved with her husband Joe to Florida when they retired. They traveled the country in a motor home for a couple months to visit friends and see parts of the country they had never seen before.
She was a professional seamstress, who specialized in invisible weaving. She was an expert at invisible weaving, which involved repairing holes and tears in expensive clothing so that the clothing looked as good as new. She was so good at it that she was considered one of the best in the country, so much so that even when she retired to Florida the tailors she worked with asked if they could continue to ship clothing needing repairs to her, which she did for many years.
She also loved doing arts and crafts, as well as needlepoint and knitting.
She loved to knit so much that not only did she knit over 60 pairs of hats and gloves that she donated to Lazarus House in Lawrence, Massachusetts for the homeless and the needy, but also knitted about 50 pairs of hats and gloves for the Maine Special Olympics.
She loved to collect knick knacks, as well as Beanie Babies. She at one point had over 225, which she gave away to her grandkids and great grandkids whenever they came to visit. She would tell them to go pick out their favorite to take home.
She was a devoted Catholic and loved Jesus, and was a parishioner of Saint Scholastica Church of Lecanto, Florida, and most recently Saint Michaels Parish in North Andover, Massachusetts.
She is survived by her devoted husband Joe, as well as her 6 children, Maureen, Michelle, Michael and his wife DeAnne, Marie, Mark and his wife Cheryl, Marianne, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Diane and her husband Don, her sister in law Judy, her sister Patty and her husband Tom, her sister Jeannie and her husband Mel, her sister Joannie and her husband Kent, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
She is predeceased by her youngest child Marcia and brother Martin.
A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday July 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Saint Michaels Parish in North Andover. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
