SSG Edward Jerome Greene, 91, of Nashua, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022. Born on September 30, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas Edward and Mary Catherine (Wilkins) Greene.
Ed grew up in Spangler, PA., and was drafted by the U.S. Army at the age of 16 and proudly served for 20+ years. Ed was a Korean and Vietnam War veteran who loved his country. He met and married the love of his life, Alice, in 1968 and they spent almost 53 years together prior to her passing in February 2021. They moved to Londonderry, NH in 1972 and made their final home in Nashua, NH in June 1975 and lived in the same house until his passing. He was an incredible father, who loved his four children more than life and was so proud of each of them. He was also an amazing “PapPap” that loved and spoiled his six grandchildren.
A former employee of Ingersoll Rand (IMPCO), while employed there, he would help organize and run their yearly children’s Christmas party and yearly trip to Canobie Lake Park. He was very involved as a volunteer with the Nashua West Little League, helping with lawn maintenance, umpiring games, and watching his four children play baseball.
Often referred to as Big Ed, he came across as a strong, stubborn & independent man. However, he was truly a gentle giant with a big heart and kind soul that would give the shirt off his back for his family or a stranger. He thoroughly enjoyed his Dunkin’s coffee visits with his two bonus daughters, sharing stories about his life and his addiction to QVC.
Although he had spent the last 50 years in New England, he was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers & Pirates fan. He may have been outnumbered by his children and grandchildren, but he never stopped cheering for The Black & Gold!
He is survived by his sons Bill Greene and wife Melissa, Arnold Greene and Holly Roberts, Dan Greene and wife Geri; daughter Jen (Greene) Hart and husband Russ; brother John Joseph Greene; Grandchildren TJ Telesha and wife Kristin, Alexzandrea Telesha, Riley Greene, Hailey Greene, Matthew Greene, Emily Greene; and many nieces & nephews who will all remember him as “Uncle Jerome”. He is predeceased by his wife Alice (Adamian) Greene; brothers Francis Thomas Greene, Thomas Greene, Walter Richard Greene; sister Imelda (Greene) Westover; and his grand-pup Manny “Big Shot” Greene.
