Eva E. Simard (Watts), 97, passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020 while surrounded by her family. She was born on April 30, 1922 in Roque Bluffs, Maine, to the late Scott R. and Geneva (Fish) Watts.
Eva was a resident of Nashua for over 70 years, before moving to Agawam, MA. She taught at Nashua Business College for 25 years, and then went on to becoming a Guidance Counselor at Nashua High School before she retired at 70. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception of Nashua for 44 years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Pilgrim Chapter #55, and was the secretary for the Retired Teachers of Nashua. Eva was ahead of her time, a pioneer; she did anything she put her mind to. She was kind and caring, and was always there to help. She was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and loved to engage in conversations with people. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and visiting with friends. “She believed she could, so she did”.
She is survived by three children Sharmane Eve Simard of Lakeville, MA, Marilene Allen and her husband Dr. Steven Allen of Agawam, MA, and Matthew J. Simard and his wife Karin of Lyndeborough, NH; sisters Emily M. Johnson of Laconia, NH, and Catherine Gibbs of Marion, MA; grandchildren Morgan Gilbert and her husband Justin, Dana Hopkins and her husband James, Steve Allen and his wife Sarah, Ryan Simard and his wife Kayla, Hannah Simard, Nathaniel Simard, Noah Simard, and Joshua Simard; and her great-grandchildren Caleb Madden, Ella Madden, Abigail Madden, Luke Madden, Audrey Gilbert, Elora Gilbert, Meredith Simard, and Athena Simard; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Leonard L. Simard; her beloved son Mark L. Simard; and brother Eugene S. Watts.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday March 4, 2020 from 4-8pm at the Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St. Nashua, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday March 5, 2020 at 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 216 E. Dunstable Rd., Nashua, NH, with a burial immediately following at St. Louis Cemetery.
