Irene “Mana” Mary (Suskevich) Hysette, 89, died Thursday November 8, 2018, in Rowley, MA, with family by her side. Born June 28, 1929, in Nashua, NH, to John and Ludwika Suskevich, Irene was the youngest of five siblings. After graduating Nashua High School in 1948, she married Roland “Jimmy” Hysette and they settled in Nashua, where they raised their four children.
Irene retired from Nashua Corporation after many years of employment. As a faithful member of the Catholic Church, she enjoyed nothing more than being with family. She was an avid bowler who attended all of her grandchildren’s sporting events and left a legacy of of crocheted afghans that continue to warm the toes of those she loved.
A skilled accordion and piano player, Irene shared her love of music not only with her adoring family but with anyone who would listen. Her small band, the Gophers, entertained the senior community across greater Nashua with music and shenanigans. Known for her quick wit and happy disposition, Irene will live on through her famous “Mana jokes” (“Chili today, hot tamale!”) and her legacy of endless love.
Irene is survived by her son, James (Hampton, NH), and daughters Sue Schofield (Fort Myers, FL), Kim Richards (Newburyport, MA), and Louise Robertson and son-in-law Ronnie Robertson (Rockwall, TX). She is also survived by her grandchildren Shawn Hysette (and Erin), Benjamin Thibault (and Kimberly), Greg Thibault (and Elizabeth), Andrew Thibault (and Sherlyn), Kaja McGuire, Julia Metcalf, and Jesse Hysette (and Sammy), as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and others who she welcomed as family.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy; her grandson, Michael Schofield; her sisters, Anna Bissonette, Stella Morin, and Phyllis Columb; her brother, Ed Suskevich; and her beloved son-in-law, Bob Richards.
