Maria Andrade Medeiros

She was born in Ponta Delgada, Azores, on October 1, 1932, the daughter of the late José and Adelaide (Pacheco) Andrade.

Maria was educated in the Azores. She relocated to the US with her family in 1966. She worked for many years as a nurse’s aid at Central Hospital in Somerville, MA and later in electronics for GTE Sylvania in Needham, MA, until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, watching game shows on T.V., the beach, and vacationing in Providence Town. Maria will be remembered by those who knew her as always putting others first. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, including her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Maria is survived by two daughters, Ana Rodrigues and her husband Jose of Merrimack, NH and Maria Teixeira of Merrimack, NH; a nephew, whom she raised as her son, Victor Andrade and his wife/daughter Ana of Canada; two brothers, Rogerio Andrade and his wife Irondina and Manuel Andrade and his wife Maria all of Canada; a sister Olga Da Rosa of Azores; four grandchildren, Michelle Rosati, Lisa Rodrigues, and Luis and Anabela Teixeira; and five great grandchildren, Alexandria and Devin Teixeira, Angelee St. Dennis, Victoria Colon, and Jake Rosati.

Visiting hours were held on Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 4 PM to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 10 AM at St. John Neumann Church in Merrimack, NH. Burial followed at Pine Haven Cemetery in Burlington, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Maria’s name to Home Health & Hospice Care, of Nashua, and Merrimack NH 03060 or to St. John Neumann Church, 708 Milford Road, Merrimack, NH 03054.
