Rose A. Aveni Coronis

Rose F. (Aveni) Coronis died peacefully on July 10, 2011 at the Hunt Community in Nashua, just 9 days before her 96th birthday. She was born in Milford NH, on July 19, 1915, the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose (Totorelli) Aveni.

Ms. Coronis graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1933. She was a loving wife, gentle and understanding mother and sweet, caring grandmother. In her declining years, her life was enriched by the superb and loving care of the staff at Hunt Community, for which her family is genuinely grateful. Rose was a member of St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church. She was a member of the Nashaway Women’s Club and a former member of Nashua Country Club where she enjoyed curling and golf. Rose and her husband traveled Europe extensively. She was an accomplished artist and painted memorable scenes from their travels. Her family continues to enjoy her art in their homes.

Rose was the widow of prominent Nashua businessman, Harry L. Coronis, whom she married on December 25, 1937. They enjoyed the next 61 years together until his death in 1999. She is also predeceased by her daughter, Sally J. Vallance, wife of Peter Vallance of Nashua; her son, David H. Coronis, husband of Judith Coronis, and two brothers, Charles and Theodore Aveni.

She is survived by a son, Lewis H. Coronis and wife Sandra of St. Paul, MN, eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Phoebe Coronis and Ruth Coronis both of Nashua, and Kaye Aveni of Holbrook, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews.

An hour of Visitation was held on Thursday, July14, 2001 from 9AM to 10AM at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church in Nashua. A Funeral Service was held in the church at 10AM. Burial followed at Edgewood Cemtery in Nashua. The ZIS-SWEENEY FUNERAL HOME, 26 KINSLEY ST., NASHUA, NH has been entrusted with arrangements.
