Ruth Elizabeth Parzych, 99, passed away on February 15, 2023 at Courville of Nashua. She was born in Merrimack, NH on October 4, 1923 to Louis J. and Mary Donovan Seguin. Ruth moved to Nashua as a young child where she spent the rest of her life including many wonderful years with her husband, Edward, and their four children.
Ruth and her sister Phyllis married brothers and childhood friends Edward and Stanley Parzych. The two families helped build each other’s houses, supported each other to hold down jobs outside the home, and raised their children as siblings. The “family of ten” enjoyed many vacations together at Hampton Beach, Silver Lake, Reeds Ferry Pond and on the ski slopes of New Hampshire.
Ruth was the ultimate “family first” person. Some of her greatest pleasures came from being a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. Also known as “Grammy P” to many in Nashua, Ruth could be seen in the bleachers at soccer, baseball, football, and hockey games as well as other youth events. Grammy felt proud not only of her own children but of all those putting their best effort on the field.
Her interest in helping others led her to be a Girl Scout leader, to participate in the Junior Achievement Program, and to volunteer transportation for people with impairments and health conditions. Throughout her life, Ruth made time to help others and was well loved for it.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward Parzych, her granddaughters Jennifer Parzych, Kimberly Davis Crear, and Craig Lodowsky, and her siblings Raymond Seguin, Louis Seguin Jr, and Violet Mears.
She is survived by her children Judith Parzych Davis and husband Ed, Susan Parzych Hubbard and husband Kent, Kevin Parzych and wife Judy, and John Parzych and wife Jeanhee. She leaves behind her grandchildren Kelly Davis Lodowsky, Rob Crear, Chuck Davis, Kate Hubbard Woll, Geoff Hubbard, Matt
Parzych, Ryan Parzych, Andrea Parzych, Nick Parzych, Robert Parzych and their spouses Chris, Elizabeth, Bo, Jenna, Jess, and Jacquie; and great-grandchildren Brecken, Carly, Geoffrey, Keri, Jacob, Sammy, Ivy, Vada, Zayne, Raelyn and Kira.
The family is grateful for the extraordinarily skilled and compassionate care Ruth received at Courville of Nashua.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 21st from 11:30am-1:30pm at Zis-Sweeney & St Laurent Funeral Home. Service at 1:30pm. Burial to follow at St Patrick Cemetery.
