

Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Lisa Miesen Melton of Nashville; his mother; a son, James “Buck” (Danielle) Melton of Nashville; a daughter, Leigh Ann (Christopher) Proffitt of Nashville; six grandchildren, Alan Brown, Zach Profitt, Alex Baker, Erianna Proffit, Peyton Melton and Cayden “Buster” Melton; a sister, Barbara Melton; a nephew; 2 nieces; and many beloved cousins and friends.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, rabbit and mushroom hunting, and having fish fries. Jim retired from Cummins Engine after 23 years. He was owner operator of Melton Excavation. He served as a reserve deputy, jailer and animal control.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM in Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North. There will be a brief service at 4:00 PM led by Pastor Robb Besosa.
