Ms. Maxine Hedrick

Maxine Kelp Hedrick, 97, of Nashville, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Sunday January 4th, 2026 at Brown County Health and Living in Nashville Indiana. Maxine was the eldest of 9 children, born August 18th, 1928 to Max and Iva (Dowell) Kelp, in Brown County Indiana. Maxine graduated from Nashville High School in 1946. She married Robert E. “Bob” Hedrick February 1st ,1949, they had 3 children.

Maxine worked at the Nashville State Bank, Paul Rogers Tax Service, Hahn Tax Service, and she served as the treasurer for the Brown County Antique Machinery Club. She then did taxes on her own in Brown County; she even traveled to Washington County to several clients. She enjoyed working in her garden, tending to her flowers, the farm, word search puzzles, and playing Bingo at the health care center.

Maxine loved her family dearly.

Maxine is survived by her two daughters Kathi Hedrick Smith & Alice Ann Hedrick of Brown County; siblings, Mary Smale of Bedford, IN; Jim Kelp of Brown County, Judie Schroeder of Columbus, IN, John Kelp of Brown County; Sister-in-laws Thelma Kelp and Barbara Helen Kelp of Brown county; great-great grandson Steven Daniel Smith of Kentucky. Also many cousins, nieces & nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her late husband Robert “Bob” and son Richard “Dick” Hedrick; father and mother Max and Iva Dowell Kelp; brothers Donald, Dallas, Jerry (Annie) and Alan Kelp; In-laws Ralph & Brunell Hedrick.

Maxine will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, love, and kindness.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday January 8th, 2026, from 4:00p.m.-8:00 p.m.

at the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, located at 1682 State Road 135 North, Nashville, Indiana 47448.

The funeral service will be Friday January 9th, 2026, at Bond Mitchell Funeral Home, visiting will be 10:00a.m. to time of service at 11:00a.m.

Maxine will be laid to rest at McKinney Cemetery in Brown County next to her husband and son.
