

Thurman Eugene “Semmie” Harden, 84, of Nashville, passed away September 21, 2014. He was born on July 6, 1930, in a log cabin just outside Nashville, to Otis and Maude (Mathis) Harden. He had a 59 year love affair with his wife Peggy, whom he adored. Semmie spent the last 6 years of Peggy’s life by her side. He was totally dedicated and committed to her. It is a love story for the history books. He was a Veteran of the US Army, serving from 1951- 1953, worked in the trucking industry for 30 years, then went on to his second career as the owner of the Brown County True Value in Nashville. Semmie retired with Peggy, in 1988, splitting time between Nashville and Anna Marie Island, Florida. Semmie was a member of The Bridge of Brown County Church, and was a past Master of the Masonic Lodge #135 in Nashville.
Semmie is lovingly survived by his children, Larry (Carrie) Harden, who live in California, and Beth (Tim) Rariden, who live in Florida, his Grandchildren, Nathan Rariden and Heather Rariden Andrews, sister Judy Bradley and Brother Jim Harden. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy, his parents, Otis and Maude, his brother Earl Harden and sisters Eva Mathis and Geneva Bradley.
The Funeral service will be held at Noon on Friday September 26, 2014, at the Bond Mitchell Funeral Home, with Darrell Stout officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Thursday evening September 25, 2014 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
