

March 17, 1917 - March 1, 2017 Ada Lee Sidwell McMeen of Nashville, TN, 99, passed away March 1, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Thomas James McMeen; son, Thomas James McMeen, Jr.; parents, Dr. Herman Edgar Sidwell and Hettie Windle Sidwell; sister, Frances Sidwell Maddux; brothers, Herman Edgar Sidwell, Jr. and Milton Windle Sidwell. She is survived by her children, Joy M. (Joel) Campbell of Loveland, OH, John H. (Janet) McMeen of Nashville, TN and David S. (Tawana) McMeen of Franklin,TN; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Christopher) Wayman, Rachael McMeen, Jim McMeen, Carrie Lee (Jeremy) VanSlyke, Natalie (Dustin) Little, Julianne (Scott) Lansfield, John McMeen, Jr., Alexander McMeen, Joel (Kristen) Campbell, IV, Anna Campbell, and Ellen McMeen; and her great-grandchildren, Hayes, Nora, and Quinn Wayman. For over eighty years, Ada was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ where she enjoyed teaching three year olds and graciously serving as the wife of an elder. Her life’s mantra was “stay close to the Lord.” Ada was a 1934 graduate of Hume-Fogg High School. Her early working years were spent as a secretary for the Shriners, Selective Service, and as a Civil Service employee. Her passion in life was being a keeper of the home where she graciously served her family and friends. She also loved the time spent with her dear husband Tom on their family farms. Visitation will be held from five o’ clock in the evening until eight on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Hillsboro Church of Christ and again from ten o’ clock in the morning until eleven on March 4, 2017 with Funeral Service to follow at eleven also at Hillsboro Church of Christ, 5800 Hillsboro Pike, 37215. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers are Jim McMeen, John McMeen, Alexander McMeen, Joel Campbell, Christopher Wayman, Dustin Little, Jeremy VanSlyke, and Scott Lansfield. Honorary pallbearers are Elders and Deacons of Hillsboro Church of Christ. Randall Pardue and Larry Craig will conduct the services.
