I worked for JC Bradford and Company and I met Mr. Sullivan and he always made you feel special no matter who or what you did a true southern gentleman.
I remember once he had a bunch of baby chickens delivered to JCB and he was playing a joke on one of the brokers..I also remember he took Cindy Hopkins and I to the City Club for lunch one day out of the blue...My heart goes out to all the family what a GREAT man will be lost but he will life forever in your hearts....

I never had the pleasure of meeting Allen in person but we spoke regularly on the phone. He was my broker and I knew I could rely on him for rock solid advice as well as an entertaining story. Our conversations always concluded with an invitation to visit Nashville. 

Allen became my broker by way of my father who was a CPA here in NY. They shared a mutual client and thus became friends. My parents visited with Allen and Barbara several times in Nashville. They spoke on the phone regularly until my father's passing in 2004.

I will miss Allen very much. I believe that his generation truly was the "Greatest Generation" of which Allen was a prime example. My heart goes out to his family.

Mr Sullivan was always one of my favorite customers & friends at Mario's Restaurant. He and my dad, MARIO,  were good friends. Mr Sullivan always did something to make us laugh. I am so happy to have known him, & Barbara.

I met Do Rite in 1980 as a young administrative assistant with J. C. Bradford & Co. When you met Do Rite you knew you had met someone special. I loved listening to his life stories, adventures and never ending practical jokes, some of which were quite elaborate! One of the things I loved about Do Rite was his generosity. I remember one day at work he rounded up all the administrative assistants for a very special lunch on Mario's boat where we were served lunch by Mario himself. When I got married a question he would ask me regularly was "Are you going to let that boy get a dog?". This went on for almost three years. One day as he was walking out of the office he asked me the question and I said "Actually I did and we named him Sullivan and we are going to call him Sully!" That stopped him in his tracks, and a sly grin came across his face and he headed out the door without another word. I can honestly say I have never met anyone like him and probably never will. My memories of Allen "Do Rite" Sullivan will always have a special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you, his family and friends, during this time.

I think of Uncle Allen every time someone orders a Heineken or a rare steak. Caring thoughts to Merida, Louise, and their families.

Allen's friends at the Billings Farm in Woodstock, Vermont, send heartfelt condolences on the passing of our dear friend of many years. All of Vermont will miss his sweet smile and many jokes! May he rest in peace with his loving wife Barbara.

I knew he was known as "Do Rite" and he probably preferred it to "Mr. Sullivan" but I just respected the man too much to call him any name other than "Mr. Sullivan".  As a credit clerk at JCB overseeing Nashville broker/client transactions he'd call me up and say "what are you doing for lunch"? I'd reply "no plans".  He'd say "then you're going to lunch with me". I didn't really talk, I would just listen because he could tell story after story of life experiences and I was always entertained.  He did that on several occasions.  Last year when I was back in Nashville for a visit I made a point to find him.  We sat and talked.  He was dressed in the crispest white shirt with cufflinks, as polished as he ever was. He said "if you're thinking about coming back to Nashville send me your resume and I'll help you get a job".  That's who he was, that's who he'll always be, one of the most memorable people in my life.  To the family of Allen Sullivan I know he was much, much more and your memories of this wonderful man will keep him in your hearts. His are in mine. Our family's thoughts are with you at this time.  God bless "Mr. Sullivan".

I worked with Allen for 32 years.  He was one of the funniest yet kindest persons ever.  No matter who you were, Allen had a kind word and often a story.  He never met a stranger, just a new friend.

 We will miss our friend, but will cherish the memories. He never failed to bring us laughter and joy. A great American!
